Iron-based SCR (Fe-SCR) catalysts, typically using Fe-Beta zeolites, are designed for high-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NOx in diesel exhaust systems. Fe-SCR catalysts are particularly effective in higher temperature windows, making them suitable for heavy-duty diesel engines and applications where exhaust gas temperatures frequently exceed 350–400°C. The catalyst’s carrier can be ceramic or metal honeycomb structures capable of withstanding high temperatures and corrosive environments.
The coating consists of TiO₂ as the primary support, doped with iron as the active component. This combination ensures excellent thermal stability, wide operational temperature range, and resistance to sulfur poisoning. The Fe-SCR catalyst primarily facilitates the standard SCR reaction (4NH₃ + 4NO + O₂ → 4N₂ + 6H₂O), achieving efficient NOx conversion at elevated temperatures. Its robust design ensures long-term durability, stable performance, and high NOx reduction efficiency, making it ideal for integration in modern diesel after-treatment systems compliant with Euro VI and China VI standards.
