The silicon carbide DPF catalyst is a particulate filtration device that combines high mechanical strength, excellent thermal conductivity, and outstanding regeneration stability. It is one of the most balanced products in diesel aftertreatment systems in terms of structural and chemical performance. Its core substrate is made of high-purity silicon carbide (SiC), sintered at high temperatures to form a regular honeycomb channel structure. The inlet and outlet ends of each channel are alternately plugged, forcing the exhaust gas to pass through the porous walls, thereby efficiently capturing soot particles.
The thermal conductivity of silicon carbide is significantly higher than that of cordierite, allowing the DPF to rapidly and evenly distribute heat during regeneration, preventing local overheating that could lead to cracks or melting. The surface is typically coated with a catalytic active layer, which can incorporate different types of metal catalyst systems depending on the application—precious metal types (such as Pt, Pd) or non-precious metal types (such as CeO₂, Fe₂O₃, MnOx, etc.).
